Black Hole, The
|
IMDB rating: 3.10 Plot: It’s 2 A.M. in St. Louis when a routine scientific experiment goes terribly wrong and an explosion shakes the city. A scientific team investigates, clashing with an intergalactic, voltage-devouring creature that vaporizes them. By 7 A.M. a chain of earthquakes is tearing the city apart while a massive swirling black hole is consuming the remains. The alien is devouring every source of electricity it finds and destroying every human who blocks its way. Mass chaos rules as St. Louis is being evacuated. Only a few people, scientist Eric Bryce, his assistant Shannon, and General Ryker comprehend the mortal danger. By midnight, the Pentagon initiates a nuclear attack against the black hole. Bryce has only one hour to find a solution to obliterate the alien and the colossal black hole before mankind is annihilated. |

those calendars may be wrong. maybe they just ran out of stone or broke their chisel or something. Nobody ever knows, but i do not think that the world will end in 2012
Allyson | Dec 29, 2009
scientific proof? not really. predictions? coincedence….at a push
chill out, its not going to end for christs sake…
slowbasil | Dec 29, 2009
The world will not end in 2012. It will change I’m quite sure, but it wont be apocalyptic as in the film.
Adam | Dec 29, 2009
no,you will be alive for years, suffering with the rest of humanity
Jb2 | Dec 29, 2009
No & Yes. I know there are ALOT of different things that things that are to be the death or near destruction to mankind. Live your life without the worry.

taxed till i die,and then some. | Dec 29, 2009
I certainly hope so. That seems to be the only way all these "Chicken Little" 2012 questions will come to an end.

Try not to worry, these ‘end of the world’ scares happen every now and then, and there’s always so-called evidence to be found.
This one is something to do with the Myan calendar, because it ends on 21st December 2012. Nobody knows why this is so because some people are paranoid, they are guessing that there must be some massive natural disaster or something. As far as I’m concerned, it’s more likely that because the Myans lived between the 3rd and 12th centuries (so that’s the years 200AD and 1100AD) they thought that plotting the calendar for the next 1000 years would be enough!
The last big end of the world theory was what they called Y2K (short for year 2000) because a bunch of people thought the world would end at midnight 1999/2000 – that one was something to do with computers not being able to cope and the whole of society falling apart as a result, ending with the world going kaboom..
The best known ‘predictor’ of them all, Nostradamus (link below), gets it wrong all the time, and in fact experts are divided as to what his writings actually meant.
These things come and go and you will hear about them from time to time throughout your life. There’s more chance of the earth being obliterated by one of the millions of massive meteorites floating around in space, or by one of the huge volcanic eruptions that are apparently overdue on earth, than because the Myan calendar ends. And there’s definitely more chance of any one of us being hit by a bus whilst crossing the road than the world ending.
I’m not trying to make you more worried, just trying to point out that you can’t be scared of what might happen all your life, or you’d never go out the front door. And if, one day, one of these wild predictions turns out to be true, so what? We’re all going to die some time of something, I’d rather it was sudden than drawn out for weeks or months of agony dying of cancer or similar.
Some people live by the philosophy where they ‘treat each day like it’s your last’. They say that way you’ll make the most of your life and when you die doesn’t matter.

no it doesnt end 2012 is just a stupid movie
Paria D | Dec 29, 2009
Can’t say either way.
It seems unlikely because these events take time to build up (stuff like Earth Crust Displacement in the 2012 film doesn’t happen that quickly) and we’d probably have detected something by now. On the other hand, the Mayans previous predictions all turned out to be true.
I wouldn’t worry about it if I were you. It probably won’t happen, there is a small chance though.

THE WORLD WILL NOT END IN 2012. IT IS SIMPLY SILLY SUPERSTITION AND SCAREMONGERING. Grow up with peaceful mind, mature, and look back from 2013 with humour.
A P | Dec 29, 2009
I seriously doubt the world will end in 2012, people have all tried to make money with their "theories" and books. The truth is that there is no proof that anything will happen; there’s no proof that Nibiru even exists, no proof that there will be a giant earthquake, solar flares…nothing.
This "prophecy" doesn’t even say that the world will end; it’s just the last date in the Mayan calendar, and lots of religions/civilisations have had "prophecies" that seem to have come true, but the messages are so vague that people just project their own meanings onto them.
Honestly, don’t worry ![]()

Stop worrying, it’ all bogus. They have no proof.

put yourself in the loincloth of a mayan astronomer:
you’re in the jungle.
it’s hot as hell.
you’ve been tasked with formulating the calendar.
you’re tools are stones, a stick, and a mud slab for calculation.
you’ve already made it over 2000 years.
then you realize…
you’re not going to live that long, so who the hell cares?
Second, there’s no scientific proof.
third, if these Mayans were so advanced that they could foresee the end of man, then how come they did not foresee their own extermination?
and last, all of those predictions you mentioned were deciphered and completely explained out AFTER the events they predicted occurred. Nostradamus was a master of writing something so vague, that you could make almost anything out of it.

No 2012 will just be another year like 2009.
2012 is a complete 100% junk science internet hoax; usually believed by people who did poorly in their science classes!
The planets NEVER ACTUALLY ALIGN. Their orbits prevent an actual straight line alignment.
http://www.etsu.edu/physics/etsuobs/star prty/22099dgl/planalign.htm
Planet X does not exist anywhere in the sky. No where on the internet can you find the sky coordinates for this fake planet. It is not hiding behind the sun (we orbit the sun ), it is NOT visible from the Southern Hemisphere. We can see in every direction with our telescopes.
http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/pla netx/science.html
No near Earth objects are headed our way for a catastrophic impact in 2012.
The Earth and sun "line-up" on the center of the galaxy every year on December 21st! We are actually 6 degrees away from the center MOVING AWAY!
The whole thing is a complete hoax. Watch the famous astronomer Neil Tyson make fun of the 2012 hoax.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJjQMwEjC 1I
and READ what NASA’s scientists think about this 2012 nonsense:
http://astrobiology.nasa.gov/ask-an-astr obiologist/intro/nibiru-and-doomsday-201 2-questions-and-answers
As for the Mayans; they believed that the Earth was flat and had 4 corners. They also believed that the sky was held up by 5 large trees each one a different color, and believed the Earth rested on the back of a giant crocodile! They worshiped the SUN god!
Are any of these other Mayan beliefs actually TRUE? The Mayans did NOT understand modern Astronomy. They simply recorded the movements of the "lights" in the sky over several generations. Just like many other ancient cultures who also had very accurate calendars. (Greeks, Romans, Chinese, and Arabs)
Good GRIEF! Just new age HOCUS POCUS!

Probably not, the Mayan Long Count Calendar 13th b’ak’tun ends on the 20 December 2012, and the 14th b’ak’tun begins on the 21 December 2012. Events have been predicted to happen in the 80th b’ak’tun. So you will probably wake up on 21 December 2012, and everything will be hunky dory.
